ECOPSYCHOLOGY CONNECTION

INTEGRATING HUMANITY BACK INTO THE NATURAL WORLD

ABOUT ECOPSYCHOLOGY CONNECTION

BRIDGING MIND, HEART & NATURE

We are living through a climate crisis that is increasingly impacting human mental health, identity, and community resilience. Climate professionals, educators, students, and values-driven organizations are experiencing eco-anxiety, grief, burnout, and disconnection from the natural world.

Ecopsychology Connection meets this need by integrating mental health, climate engagement, and nature-based practices. We support individuals and organizations in reconnecting with the natural world, processing climate-related emotions, and building resilient, action-oriented communities.

Founded by Hanna Nielsen, with over a decade of experience in the climate field, a Master's in Ecopsychology, and training as an eco-chaplain.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

ROOTED IN CONNECTION, CARE & BELONGING

Connection: Reconnecting with the natural world as the foundation for psychological wellbeing and sustained climate engagement

Care: Creating supportive spaces for processing grief, anxiety, and the emotional weight of climate work with compassion.

Community: Building resilient networks where isolation transforms into collective strength and shared purpose.

Hope: Cultivating action-oriented hope that sustains engagement and empowers meaningful response to climate challenges.

About Me

Background

For over a decade, I have worked in the climate field, wearing many hats in policy, fieldwork, and education. Through this work, I noticed a profound gap: while people are deeply committed to the planet, there are few spaces to support them psychologically and spiritually in engaging with the environmental crisis. This realization led me back to school, where I earned my Master’s in Ecopsychology. Ecopsychology explores how humans evolved in relationship with the natural world and how our separation from it affects our mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. My thesis, “Tending the Cultural Wound: Incorporating Integration into Ecopsychology Practices,” examined how profound experiences, whether in nature, spiritual practice, or personal transformation, can be integrated so they leave lasting impact on our psyche.I am also a trained Eco-Chaplain and a skilled facilitator. I support individuals and organizations in metabolizing climate-related grief, cultivating emotional resilience, and restoring relational connection to themselves, to each other, and to the living world. Through mentorship, workshops, and nature-based practices, I help people translate insight and experience into sustainable action and enduring engagement.
